# per week to 100% is the number need weekly to achieve 100% by Dec 31, 2009.
The race to 100% is closing into a tight race!&amp;nbsp; there is only 1.21% between 1st and 5th place.&amp;nbsp; Even better yet...there is only 2.32% between 1st and 9th place!!!&amp;nbsp;
GREAT JOB DISTRICT COMMANDERS!!!!
The climb to the top is not going to get easier at this point, but it is a climb we can make together!&amp;nbsp; District Commanders, personally contact all of your posts who are less than 85% and find out what their situation is.&amp;nbsp; Find out what help they need to get their membership roles up to par.&amp;nbsp; Contact the Chief of what help they need.
We are rapidly coming to the close of the raffle as well.&amp;nbsp; The proceeds of this raffle help us keep the Department operating.&amp;nbsp; This money is used to pay salaries and upkeep of equipment and such.&amp;nbsp; You all know we are strapped pretty tight on funds, so really work hard to promoting the sale of these tickets.&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp; Remind the posts they gain 50% of the proceeds, so it is good for them as well!
I am very proud of the team this year.&amp;nbsp; You all are working hard and we will all benefit greatly from your efforts.&amp;nbsp; Thanks for all you do.

Our Department currently is at 88.61%.&amp;nbsp; We remain in 8th place in the Nation and 2nd place in the Big 10 Conference.&amp;nbsp; These are the best pecentages we have been in years at this point in the year.&amp;nbsp;
Despite that, there is no time to rest!&amp;nbsp; the November quotas are based on all Districts achieving 100% by December 31.&amp;nbsp; WE CAN DO THIS!
If you are going hunting, take some applications with you!&amp;nbsp; Hunters have money, so ask if they will be a member.
Also, take advantage of recruiting on Veterans Day and at the many Veterans Day events.&amp;nbsp; Their hearts are with America...sign them up!
DON&amp;#039;T FORGET TO PUSH THOSE RAFFLE TICKETS!!!
Thank you for all your hard work.&amp;nbsp; None of it goes by unnoticed.

<title>Dues Round up Scheduled for November</title>

<description>This year we are working membership from every angle we can think of.&amp;nbsp; The fairs have given us a good start along with the many members out there recruiting.&amp;nbsp; I Thank all of you for those hard efforts.
The Chief has designated October as &amp;quot;Thunder Month&amp;quot; for membership.&amp;nbsp; All posts are asked to get out and visit those annual unpaid members.&amp;nbsp; Talk to them about Life memberships and try to collect those dues.&amp;nbsp; Do membership drives to get new and reinstated members.&amp;nbsp; The single post who does the best at this (at least 75% of their remaining annual dues collected and the most new and reinstates by&amp;nbsp;percentage) will get an unannounced reward.&amp;nbsp; The Chief says the prize is way cool, but won&amp;#039;t even tell me what it is !!!
November 7-8 we will be doing Dues Roundups with the Ladies Auxiliary all over the state.&amp;nbsp; A schedule and Officer assignments are in the works.&amp;nbsp; This will give Posts an opportunity to visit with the State Officers and give a report of their membership accomplishments during the month of October.&amp;nbsp; Dues transmittals may also be handed to State Officers at that time if the Post wishes.
Those Posts who have not yet attained 80% in membership really need to get out and push hard on membership.&amp;nbsp; Our goal is for every District to be at least 95% by Christmas.&amp;nbsp; If you need help in your Post/District, we have National Recruiters who are here to assist you...USE THEM!&amp;nbsp; Contact the Chief of Staff and she will coordinate to get you a recruiter on a schedule that is mutually agreed on.
Membership is not accomplished for feathers in anyone&amp;#039;s cap.&amp;nbsp; If you think that you have missed the main purpose of keeping an organization alive and operational.&amp;nbsp; Membership growth is necessary to keep your post well and functioning.&amp;nbsp; So let&amp;#039;s all get out there in October and push hard so we have some real accomplishments to report in November!&amp;nbsp; </description>

<title>commander&amp;#039;s message</title>

<description>We have not gotten the backing of the posts that we expected, and only have just over a month to get out and sell our raffle tickets. We desperately need this raffle to run the Department and all of our programs. All posts have been sent $100 worth of raffle tickets; please put your post number on the tickets send the $100 and stubs back as soon as possible. The Department thanks you for your help.
&amp;nbsp;
Our reporting is coming in, but we still have some posts that have not sent in any reports. We all know your posts have done the work, so please send in your reports.
&amp;nbsp;
We are behind in membership currently there are only 24 posts at 100% or better. Get teams of two members to go out and pick up the dues from your unpaid members. We need NEW MEMBERS more then ever,&amp;nbsp; now as the commanding officer at Camp McCoy will not let us in the PX to recruit new members. It is up to all of us to recruit. Help us to achieve 100% in membership this year.

<title>C of A and King Day: A Busy Weekend with Great Results!</title>

<description>

            It was my special honor to present a plaque to Ken Munro, commemorating his more than 16 years of service as King Day Chairman.&amp;nbsp;Ken has stepped down due to the demands of his medical treatments, but intends to continue to be the valuable contributing member he has been over these many years. We wish him well and look forward to his continuing service to the VFW Department of Wisconsin and all Veterans!

July 24-25 was the Council of Administration meetings. As usual the budget&amp;nbsp; took us quite some time to get in place, but finally was approved by the council&amp;nbsp;for the coming year. Earl Banks and his committee did an outstanding job keeping it running smoothly.
Reporting was given by all district commanders. They all gave good ideas as to what they want each of the posts in their districts to accomplish this year.
The OTI was also held this weekend, with great success.
The weather was excellent for King Day. The veterans at the home enjoyed their picinic, especially the brats. We honored Ken Munro for his many years as King as Chairman.

<title>&amp;quot;Flying Squadron&amp;quot; National Training in Chicago was very helpful!</title>

<description>The Flying Squadron Meeting in Chicago was a big success. Our State Officers and District Commanders learned what the incoming National Commander-in-Chief expects from our Posts, Districts and Department.&amp;nbsp;
&amp;nbsp;
Our State programs follow right along with the National programs.

We learned about the duties and responsibilities of the&amp;nbsp;District Commanders, National Military Services, the VFW All-American program and our National membership goals.
&amp;nbsp;
The Department&amp;nbsp;of Wisconsin had a GREAT showing at the fly-in, with everyone who was ordered in showing up.

&amp;nbsp;
&amp;nbsp;

I want to thank you for participation, it shows what a dedicated group of people we have working for the VFW in the State of Wisconsin. Coming up this weekend in Wisconsin Rapids, we&amp;#039;ll be kicking off our Department&amp;#039;s new Program Year.
I hope to see many of you there!
Gary

<title>Make the State Raffle Work For You!</title>

<description>Hi Comrades...
A suggestion on how to sell your raffle tickets:
Take a card table and two folding chairs to your local supermarket. Ask if you can set-up by the shopping carts, or somewhere close. Set up&amp;nbsp; your table with the poster for the joint raffle. Then all you need to do is be like the greeter at Wal-Mart, and say &amp;quot;Hello&amp;quot;, &amp;quot;Good Morning&amp;quot;, or &amp;quot;Good Afternoon&amp;quot;.
The public will ask you what you are selling. Explain that you are selling VFW Raffle Tickets. Tell them the Grand Prize is $20,000, and by purchasing a ticket or tickets they will be helping support your local Post, since half of the proceeds go to the local Post, the other half goes to the State VFW. None of it goes to National.
The public likes the idea of half of the money staying&amp;nbsp;with the local VFW.&amp;nbsp;
IT WORKS!
I collected over $600.00 this past weekend: 8 hours on Saturday and just 3 hours on Sunday. A good time to set-up on Sunday&amp;nbsp;is when church services are getting out. A lot of people stop in the store after church.
See how successful you can be!!!!
&amp;nbsp;
