GENERAL ORDERS #7                                             JANUARY 2008

          General Orders are to be read at each Post Meeting and placed on file

 

1)    COUNCIL OF ADMINISTRATION MEETING: The next Council of Administration Meeting will be held on February 3, 2008 at the Marriott Courtyard, Concord, NH beginning at 10 AM. Committee meetings will start at 9:00 AM.

 

2)    MID-YEAR CONFERENCE: The Mid Winter Conference will be held on Saturday, February 2, 2008 9:00AM at the Marriott Courtyard in Concord. Department Sr. Vice Commander John Rubery is the Chairman for this event. The room rate at the Marriott is $86 plus tax if you would like a room for the evening.  For hotel reservations call Marriott Courtyard at 225-0303. 

 

3)    VOICE OF DEMOCRACY: The Voice of Democracy/Patriot’s Pen/Teacher’s of the Year Banquet will be held on February 2, 2008 at the Marriott Courtyard in Concord. The price of the banquet is $40.00 per person.  Deadline for tickets is January 20, 2008.  Make checks payable to Department of New Hampshire VFW and mail to State Quartermaster Frank Casey, PO Box 250, Whitefield, NH 03598.

 

4)   COMMUNITY SERVICE AND LEGISLATIVE CONFERENCE: The Community Service & Legislative Conference will be March 2-5, 2008 at the Omni Shoreham Hotel, Washington, D.C. Reservation form is enclosed.

 

5) CONGRATULATIONS NATIONAL COMMITTEE APPOINTEES:  The        following Washington Appointments were approved for the Washington Conference:   National Youth & Education -Mike Annis, National Security-Dave Ouellette, POW/MIA, Bruce Carbone, National Security, Greg Lynch, Legislative-Paul Chevalier, National Youth & Education-Paul Lloyd, POW/MIA-Frank O’Neil, Veterans Employment-Pete Vaillancourt, Military Assistance- Eugene Pawlik and POW/MIA-Dan Greenlaw.

 

6) GOLD MEDAL AWARDS: Each year the VFW selects an Emergency Services person, a Law Enforcement Officer and a Firefighter to receive VFW Gold Medal Awards. These three award winners are presented their awards at the VFW National Convention in August. Post Safety Chairman is encouraged to submit a candidate for these awards to their respective Department Headquarters by March 1, 2008. The Department will select a single candidate for each award and submit those to VFW National Headquarters by April 1, 2008.

8)  STATE COMMANDERS GIFT: It is customary that we honor our State Commander who has worked hard during the year by showing our appreciation with a gift at the Commander’s Testimonial Banquet.  Commander Calo’s Testimonial Banquet will be on March 15, 2008 at the American Legion Post 7 Hall, Rochester, NH. If you wish to send a gift or token of appreciation for Commander Calo, send to Sr. Vice Commander, John Rubery, 3 Pauls Way, Amherst, NH 03031.   

9) COMMANDER’S TESTIMONIAL BANQUET:  Reservations for the testimonial banquet for Commander John Calo may be made at the Rochester Holiday Inn Express:  603-994-1175 or on line at holidayinnexpress.com/rochesternh.  There are eight (8) smoking rooms available on third floor.  Reservations open January 3, 2008 and close February 15, 2008. Rate is $81.00 plus tax, includes complimentary breakfast )Sausage Gravy & biscuit) 6:30-10:30 AM. Checkout is at noon. When calling, say you are with the VFW. The Council of Administration meeting will be held on Sunday morning at the Rochester VFW.   

 

10)  EASTERN STATES CONFERENCE:  The Eastern States Conference will be held April 25-27, 2008 at the South Portland Sheraton Sheraton in So. Portland, Me.  Room rate $99.00 plus 7% tax. Phone 207-775-6161 or 1-800-325-3535 for reservations.

11) NEW WEB COM COMMUNICATIONS NETWORK:  Immediately following the Mid-Winter Conference on February 2, 2008 there will be a presentation by State Adjutant Dana Hussey on the new Web COM communications network for New Hampshire. A site has also been set up for each post in the state. You will be shown how the site can be accessed and how each post can claim their site, make it their own and start earning revenue.
