.)  VOICE OF DEMOCRACY THEME: The 2008-2009 theme for the Voice of Democracy program has been selected by Commander-in-Chief Glen Gardner. The theme is: "Sacrifice and Service by America’s Veterans benefits todays youth by...." Note: Remember, the deadline for receipt by Posts from contestants is November 1, 2008.

.) PATRIOTS PEN THEME: The 2008-2009 theme for the Patriots Pen Program has been selected by Commander-in-Chief Glen Gardner.  The theme is:  “Why America’s Veterans should be honored.” Note:  Remember, the deadline for receipt by Posts from contestants is November 1, 2008.

.)  WHY DID VFW FORM A PAC:  The VFW Political Action Committee (PAC) was established to help keep friends of the veterans in the US Congress and to promote the VFW’s point of view with Congressional members who do not fully appreciate the sacrifices made by our veterans and their families. Your VFW is in constant competition with sophisticated lobbying groups dedicated to their own interests. We stand alone in opposition to those groups actively seeking to curtail veteran’s benefits and national security programs. Resultantly, the delegates to the 80th VFW National Convention formed PAC.  This decisive action has now given our VFW members a more effective means to combat the anti-veteran and anti-defense mentality to which we have been exposed.

.)  STATE PRESIDENT’S HOMECOMING:  We will be honoring our State President on October 25, 2008 with a gala event at the Elks Lodge on Rte. 302 in Littleton, NH.  If you would like to show your appreciation for our Presidents leadership, send donations to Sue Clement, 35 Mansion Road, Dunbarton, NH 03045. Make checks payable to Tina Greenlaw. See the enclosed flyer for hotel and banquet information. For more info call Beth Kimball at 603-652-9780 or e-mail: beth.kimball.lavfw@verizon.net.

.) PROGRAM REPORTING:  All Program reports need to be reported directly to their respective chairmen, not the State Adjutant.  Once reported, the Chairman will send you a confirmation card and the Chairman should give the Adjutant a list of Posts that have been reported so they can be recognized in the General Orders and be tracked for award purposes.
