District 8 Winter Meeting Held in Fayetteville

Post 670 was the scene of the Winter District 8 meeting. Post 10 from Raeford and Post 10630 from Hope Mills were the hosts posts for the meeting. Post 670 donated their facilities.
Commander Roland Rochester introduced Ray Yamrus as the Department Representative. Comrade Yamrus is a Past Department Commander and currently is a National Council Representative.
Ladies Auxiliary District 8 President, B. Mae Harris introduced Ann Yamrus as the Department Representative. Sister Yamrus is a Past Department President and currently is a National Council Representative.
During the meeting, Post 670 Commander John Shelander was presented with a 100 percent membership plaque for achieving 100 percent in membership prior to 1 January 2010.

VFW to Stream Video from Legislative Conference

Streaming will begin with the Voice of Democracy Parade of Winners at 6:00 p.m. (EST) on March 7th.
Streaming will resume with the Conference's Opening Session, set to begin at 8:00 a.m. the next morning, featuring guest speakers General George W. Casey, Jr., Secretary of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, Janet Napolitano, and Secretary of Veterans Affairs, Eric Shinseki.
A delayed stream of VFW Commander-in-Chief, Thomas Tradewell's testimony on Capitol Hill will also air the afternoon of Tuesday, March 9.
In addition to streaming the segments live, all events will also be available on demand.

Fall District Meeting Held at VFW Post 670

Under the guidance of District 8 Commander, Roland Rochester and District 8 Ladies President, B. Mae Harris, the Fall 2009 District Meeting was held on Sunday, November 15, 2009.
VFW Post 670 headed up by Post Sr. Vice Commander Ben Pasley and Ladies Auxiliary President, Linda Shelander hosted the Fall District 8 meeting. Over 75 Comrades and Ladies Auxiliary members from district posts attend the meeting and had a delightful meal served by the Ladies of Post 670.
Department of NC Jr. Vice Commander, Jason Schoolcraft, and Department of NC Ladies Auxiliary Past President (2006-2007) Deborah Crowder were the Department Representatives.

District Gets Another Post

On Saturday, 26 September 2009, Past State Commander (1999-2000) Arthur R. Shull, instituted the DAVID THOMPSON VFW POST 8969 in Lumberton, NC. Fred H. Benton from Lumberton was installed as the Post Commander.
We welcome Post 8969 to the 8th District.
