Charles W. Stapp, 1931-1952
Posted at 11:09 PM on Saturday, November 21, 2009 by IJK in VFW Post 3770 Events
November 21, 2009 - Mountain Grove VFW Post 3770 members placed the "Brass Marker" for Charles W. "Bill" Stapp. Stapp was KIA in Korea in 1952. One of his best friends from childhood, Tom Alsup, noted that there was no U.S. Flag placed on his grave during the Memorial Day period and after some inquiries found that it was because the local VFW did not know he was due a flag. Mr Alsup started the ball rolling to correct the error by contacting the Missouri Veterans Commission person, Alfredia Williams who jumped on it, did the research, ordered the "Brass Marker" and contacted the Mtn Grove VFW who eagerly agreed to set the marker. Many thanks are sent to Alfredia Williams.
