Posted at 02:39 PM on Tuesday, July 27, 2010 by IJK in VFW Post 3770 Events

The Mtn Grove VFW and it's Ladies Auxiliary and Junior Girls Unit observed Korean War Armistice Day with a brief "Color Ceremony" at 9:00 a.m., July 27, 2010 at the flagpole that the Mtn Grove VFW installed on the public square in Mountain Grove in 1980.
There was a total of eleven in attendance. Five members of the Mtn Grove VFW, three members of the Ladies Auxiliary, two members of the Junior Girls Unit and one young guest.
The day was overcast and cool. All enjoyed a brief visit before and after the ceremony. The photo was taken right before the ceremony began.

Retroactive Stop Loss Special Pay
Posted at 12:43 PM on Monday, July 26, 2010 by IJK
Those eligible must submit a claim by Oct. 21, 2010.The 2009 War Supplemental Appropriations Act established Retroactive Stop Loss Special Pay (RSLSP), providing $500 for each month/partial month served in stop loss status. Service members, veterans, and beneficiaries of servicemembers whose service was involuntarily extended under Stop Loss between Sept. 11, 2001 and Sept. 30, 2009 are eligible for RSLSP.
To receive this benefit, those who served under stop loss must submit a claim for the special pay. Throughout the year, the services have been reaching out to servicemembers, veterans and their families through direct mail, veteran service organizations, and the media. But there is still money left to be claimed, and the deadline is approaching. The average benefit is $3,700.

US Flag from Afghanistan
Posted at 10:27 PM on Saturday, July 24, 2010 by IJK
Recently the Mtn Grove VFW received a flag that had been flown on a combat mission in Afghanistan. A certificate of authenticity came with it verifying when and where it had flown. Such a nice gift had to be displayed in a special way. Post 3770 has a special friend that cheerfully took on the job of building frames for them. The below photo shows the results of his work.
Ed Hawley, Post Service officer(left) and the builder of the frames Eldon Mackey (right). The post owes Mr Mackey many thanks. When you see him tell him how much the Mtn Grove VFW appreciates his work.
